Pride and Respite

Spent a day making the Aesthetics Camp video using the ulead program...Will post it itmw; left my laptop in school when I left home in a hurry at 8.20pm. The videocam I used was cool, I could download the videos onto my laptop directly without needing to use a memory card. The camp is over and the kids bonded. Hurray. As 2OIC I'm quite proud of myself, the team and the kids.

Band concert on 6 June 2008 (Fri) at VCH will be officially sold for $12. Stay tuned ;)

I'm looking forward to tmw. And to your return.

Stockholm Part 1

Talk about a room with a view. Nordic Lights hotel has a nice view of the town. Lemme get a better shot.

Thats the view from my window. The street leads past the central station which I haven't explored yet (prob tonight) and heads towards Gamla Stan, the old city. After unloading out stuff at the hotel, we decided to go for a little sightseeing walkabout tour with ME as the "from-memory-of-reading-lonely-planet" FOC guide.

We first got to the Klara Church.

This is a shot from outside the church.

This is a shot form inside the church. Note the circular paintings on the ceiling of the church. Each painting denotes a chapter from the Bible. Take the top most painting in the picture of Jesus tending to some sheeps. Thats from John Chapter 10 - Jesus the Good Shepard.

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
- John 10:11

This is a shot just as we crossed the bridge towards the Islet of the Holy Spirit and heading towards Gamla Stan, the old city.

This is a rough map from Lonely Planet. We are heading towards the island in the middle.

Here is a side view of the Royal Palace, their guards are more slack than the British ones. They fidget a lot and their hats not as furry.

This is a nice one along the cobbled roads of Gamla Stan.

Where I found a quaint little shop that sells models of old sailing ships.

We also came across the Nobel Museum(Yeah... also closed). I thought of our visit to Japan's Science Center. =)

The end of the "Chen Brothers" tour was along the coast of Gamla Stan where we could take in the sight of the Swedish Riversides and the City hall where the Nobel Prizes are Awarded. My turn will come.

Stay tuned for Day 2!

Prelude

The 1st leg of our amazing race began for 7 members of InnoLab team + Loo Kang at 10pm Singapore time where we checked into the airport.

22hrs 30mins... time taken to check in to terminal 3, fly to frankfurt international, loiter at the transit lounge (staring at S$6 mineral water and S$7 sprite), fly to arlanda airport in stockholm, find our luggage and avoid being the last team to check in to avoid being eliminated from this leg of the race.

This picture was taken in Frankfurt international where we had to go down a long tunnel to get to our connecting flight. GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT LOO KANG! Its days like this that made me miss our sky tram in Changi airport. Somehow, we had to take a lift down 3 floors, get thru this tunnel and walk up 3 flights of stairs and race to the other end of the terminal to get to our departure gate.

Lufthansa flight to Stockholm was much scarier than SQ. The take off was a bit scary with a short 2sec free fall where I thought my emergency pack will definately come in useful if we have to re-enact Lost Season 1-4.

*I may sound a bit out of point here and day but thats because I am typing really fast here. I started 6am Stockholm time of Day 2 and I lent Albert by international adapter so our comp has 23mins of batt life left. HURRY!*

Nevermind... gonna end the prelude here. Lots of things I prob missed like the crappy Lufthansa in-flight food, the cramp seatings etc. Lets move on to Part 1!

Everytime We Say Goodbye

Dear will be flying the friendly skies in half an hour...
And when he reaches and retire for the night, I hope he sees this.
Did not send him off..parted at the house bus stop as usual. It was easier to say goodbye that way.
Dear took Knuckles with him. I wish I brought Snoops home.
I have a feeling the trip would be a hectic but successfully one. Ganbatte!

You know I can't smile without you
I can't smile without you
I can't laugh and I can't sing
I'm finding it hard to do anything
You see I feel sad when you're sad
I feel glad when you're glad
If you only knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile without you

When you're near, there's such an air of spring about it,
I can hear a lark somewhere, begin to sing about it,
There's no love song finer, but how strange the change
from major to minor,
Everytime we say goodbye.

So take care, dear, and the Lord be with you.
